What happend to the BBS Muds? Why did they all move away from the BBS and into dedicated servers? The amount of players? Did the Muds really get so many users a BBS couldn't handle it?

I still have a MUD running on Moe's, mudman. You can find it on moetiki.ddns.net:27 under the doors menu.
I've been checking out Muds this past week. Waaay to complicated for me. I was never a gamer really. I was into Doom for while back in the day. I also enjoyed Global War on the BBS. I still check Global War for active games but there's no interest. I guess it's too simple for gamers that enjoy muds. That and the fact everyone wants to be a SysOp and not a user ;-)What happend to the BBS Muds? Why did they all move away from the BBS >>and int dedicated servers? The amount of players? Sorry, while I do have mudman, the one that is really like a mud is DoorMUD.
