I've bought so much tech gear over the past 40 years that ends up worthless and in a landfill (or my closet, I'm slow to throw out stuff I think I might use again one day), I try to buy new tech only when prices have come down considerably.
I try not to buy new computers unless I absolutely need it. This box
from 2018 will likely be around for another 2 years.

It's not just about your internet speed - If you copy files or other
data between computers in your home network, it can be good to have the highest speed possible. But if your computers aren't capable, then I suppose it doesn't make much difference.

What I've got works well enough. Don't move many files from computer to computer and when I do they're usually fairly small. Stream from a UMS instance, plenty of bandwidth for that. I'm able to do everything I need and want to do with 100 Mb/s.
